DAYTIME, EVENING AND BRIDAL MAKEUP - WHAT EVERY CLIENT SHOULD KNOW

Makeup has the power to transform our appearance and enhance our natural beauty. Whether you want a subtle, understated look for everyday wear or a glamorous look for a special event, it's important to understand the difference between daytime, evening, and bridal makeup. In this article, we'll take a closer look at each type of makeup, which will help you achieve the look you want.

Daytime Makeup

The main requirement for daytime makeup is that it should look natural and that no one should notice that you are wearing makeup. The goal is to refresh the face, hide imperfections and highlight certain facial features. Daytime makeup usually uses light shades of eye shadow, light toning and the emphasis is on the skin. Cosmetics are used less often, and no additional fixing products are used.

Recommendations for daytime makeup

  • When applying makeup in daylight, it is not advisable to use oily or dry products to correct the nose or other areas of the face, as the correcting products will be visible. An alternative option is to use a light bronzer as a concealer on the cheekbones and along the edge of the hairline of the forehead.
  • Avoid using dark eyeliner as it can make your makeup look too dramatic. To add a touch of sparkle to your look, use shades that have a slight shimmer.
  • Don't wear false eyelashes! This advice may seem obvious, but some girls still think that two or three bunches of false eyelashes won't go unnoticed.

Evening Makeup

Evening makeup is very different from daytime makeup, since the main goal is to achieve glamor and durability. Evening makeup already uses more saturated colors. It can be denser and more expressive, since it is assumed that a person is going to an event where the lights are dim and photography is possible. It should also be noted that this type of makeup is much more difficult to create.

Some nuances of the evening makeup application process

  • Before you start, prepare your skin. Cleanse it, apply moisturizer and foundation. To avoid irritation or redness, do not rub or use a cleansing mask.
  • Apply foundation, then blush and powder.
  • The most important part is the eyeshadow. First you should hide the dark circles and other imperfections, if any. Then you can create arrows with a pencil or eyeliner. After the arrows, mascara is applied.

Bridal Makeup

Bridal makeup can be visually similar to daytime makeup - light and romantic, but with extra hold, as it is essential that it lasts perfectly from the moment of application, which is usually early in the morning, until late at night or the next morning.

Why don't I think makeup should be categorized?

Nowadays, makeup trends and techniques have changed and developed significantly, so it is important to understand which artist's style appeals to you the most. As trends change, so do customer preferences. Accordingly, there are no longer any strict boundaries that must be adhered to. If you like it, you can wear dark, expressive and covering makeup during the day or at a wedding, just as you can go to an evening event with very minimal but radiant makeup.

It would be much more important to turn to an artist whose tastes match yours. You need to study the pictures, how natural they are and whether they are overly processed. It is also important that the skin texture is visible, as this allows you to see the makeup artist's style, how much coverage they like to use, and whether this matches your preferences. Some people like perfectly defined, expressive eyebrows and a highly covering makeup base, while others prefer a more natural look, without perfect lines and the like.

In my opinion, makeup is an art, so there is no "right" or "wrong" here. Therefore, it is important to go to a makeup artist whose work speaks to you and to trust their vision during the visit. Otherwise, if you start to set too strict boundaries and instructions for the artist, then the result may be the opposite, because the master may get scared and start focusing too much on not doing too much or too expressive. Also, if you want to prepare a picture to show the makeup artist your wishes, then it would be best if you choose it from the pictures in the master's portfolio. Because often, when you find pictures on the Internet, they are very heavily processed, hiding the model's pores and creating an illusion of perfection. It can also be added that often makeup models have their eyes closed so that the eyeshadow is fully visible and at that moment the client forgets that they may not have the facial structure or eye shape and eyelid position that allows for such gorgeous designs and the end result may not match the desired result. The same makeup can look completely different on each person.

What to consider before a visit

  • We choose a master whose work we like so that we can enjoy the process and not worry about the result.
  • Before an important event, we definitely do a makeup trial to make sure that the vision and the artist match and that the selected products will be suitable for the skin and will be long-lasting.
  • You should not experiment with new facial care products like masks, peels, etc. before your visit.
  • We drink water and moisturize our skin, because it's only when we start applying makeup that we can see if our skin is dehydrated and makeup will only highlight dry patches.
  • Get a good night sleep so that there are no unusual circles under the eyes or facial swelling.
  • Ideally, you should arrive for a makeup appointment with a clean face, but you may have applied skincare products.

Makeup durability and cosmetic choice

I recommend working with high-quality and world-renowned cosmetics, such as Benefit, Mac, Urban Decay, Makeup Geek, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Stila, Morphe, Ofra, RCMA, etc., and you should not exclude gold finds from budget brands such as Wet n Wild and Kiko Milano. Thanks to the products used and the techniques applied, any make-up will be very durable, regardless of whether it is light or very intense makeup.

However, the biggest factor that can definitely affect durability is the customer's attitude towards makeup. This means that if a person cries or their face gets wet (rain, snow, etc.), they should not wipe or rub their face with their hands. If this is done, then due to the rubbing and heat from the hands, we begin to smudge the cosmetics and their structure changes. In such cases, you need to gently dry your face with a paper towel or, alternatively, air your face. When wearing makeup, we simply try not to touch our face unnecessarily, as we may accidentally touch it with dirty hands and wipe off the makeup while cleaning something. It is essential to pay attention to what you eat, as there is a risk of quickly "eating" your lipstick.
