Reviews from clients
Hi, I wanted to say a big thank you for the permanent lip makeup! ❤️ I really, really like it, such a beautiful shape, and the peeling finished today. The lips may go a little lighter, but it is very beautiful. For the first time in my life I like my lips. 😄 I cannot stop being happy about it. If I want a refresh in the future I will definitely come to you, and I will recommend you to others! Thank you so, so much! 🥰
Hello, I wanted to say a big thank you for the work on my lip PMU! I really like the result, the tone came out like my favourite neutral pink lipstick! After the touch-up it healed for longer than the first time, but with no trouble. Thank you so much again!!! 💗
Hi. Thank you for asking 🙂 I had already forgotten that I was meant to report back 😄 Everything healed, it looks very good, thank you ☺️
Hi! All is well, thank you! The healing was smooth, there were no scabs 👍🙏
Good morning! The result came out very, very beautiful - it is expressive, especially the outline. And no cold sore came up, which matters too 😄 Thank you so much ☺️ very fine work! When I am ready for the eyeliner, I will let you know!
Hi! This time a proper cold sore came up, but now it has healed and I really like it - the colour is great! Thank you so much!
Good morning! I am glad to report that this time everything is excellent. The lower lip had healed after a couple of days I think, on the upper lip a few small cold sores came up along the line, but today it looks as though it will pass with no consequences. The colour is wonderful. Thank you for your work! ❤️
Hi! Everything healed very well, there are no gaps anywhere and I am happy with how it looks! Thank you so much for your work 🙏
The whole process was completely without scabs, which really surprised me! Now the tone is soooo beautiful, pink and soft, but noticeable at the same time. When I have done my makeup I put on a lip gloss and it is a BOMB! I do not have good photos right now, and the light is bad for taking any, but I will try to take some tomorrow... I did not photograph the process, but there were no scabs and no dryness at all. Only the next day, when I was at Summer Sound, with the wind and the sand I put on more balm. That was all! Beautiful! ❤️ I am getting compliments from my friends! And I have shared the link to your profile with a couple more girls - they all admire it and are getting ready to come to you 😏☺️
I really like it, I do not need lipstick any more, I put on a gloss or a balm and I am done. Thank you for your work!
Hi! Sorry, I forgot to write sooner, but everything is very good. It healed quickly and now it looks excellent! 😌
Thank you! Everything healed well. The tone is good and I like that the outer line is a little darker. I am glad that with your help I have finally done what I wanted and got permanent brows.
Hello, Linda! I am happy with everything and it healed very easily. I got a lot of compliments 😊 Thank you! I will think about my lips too 💋
Hiya! It healed very well, and whenever I tell someone the brows are permanent, everyone says the same thing - but they look so natural 😊😄 I really like them, perhaps they would want to be a little darker with my new hair colour, but otherwise thank you very much again ❤️
Hi, Linda! Thank you 😊 Everything healed very well and looks very natural 👍 Only when I do darker eye makeup, the brows want to be a bit darker too. Maybe I should tint the brow hairs? They have faded over the summer 😄
Hi, sorry, I missed your first message 🙏 yes, everything healed very nicely 👌 I just tint the hairs themselves now and then with brow colour (because they are light in places on their own) and it is perfect!
Hi!! ❤️ The brows are really wonderful. 😍 When is a refresh recommended? After a year? I am thinking hard about my lips too 😉
Hi! I keep forgetting to send you a photo. Everything healed well, just as quickly as before. This time it even seemed there were almost no scabs. I will try to remember to take a close-up and send it to you 🙈
Hi, sorry for the late reply, the little one takes up all my time. 🥹😅 But everything healed very beautifully, thank you so much. If I manage it, I will take a photo and send it to you. ❤️😊
Thank you so much once again for this result! 🥰 I could not even imagine it would be Wow!! I knew it would be pretty, but it turned out truly Wow!! 🤩 I used to spend so much time every morning getting the shape right, and every morning it was not perfect!! 😫 Now I look at myself in the mirror every morning with joy and I am so glad I trusted you!! 😇🤗 You are simply magical!! Thank you so much for this beauty you have given me!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Greetings! I want to say a big thank you, the brows healed perfectly and look excellent!! In my view an outstanding result, I am very happy!! 🥰😊🥰 Thank you so much!!
Hi! Time flew by, I forgot to report back in time 🙈 The brows healed without any trouble and I am very happy with the result too 🥰 every morning I wake up and I am glad the brows are already done and there is nothing to draw or colour in. These photos may not be the best, because I took them quickly without brushing, but when you brush them nicely and set them with brow gel - it is a bomb! 😄 Thank you so much for the fantastic work! 🤩
Hi. Thank you for my brows, I am very happy. Have a nice day! Ksenija
Hi! It healed well. I am very happy. 🙂
Hi, I am very glad the pigment stayed. It is not too strong, but it has stayed noticeably better than the first time. I am attaching photos, I am not the best photographer but I hope you can make something out.
Hi! Yes, everything healed beautifully! A very natural, light effect, which is exactly what I wanted :) Combined with a subtle eye makeup the result is simply lovely. Thank you! :)
Hi! Everything is very good, it has settled, the tone is good, I am happy :) Thank you so much!
Hello, thank you, very lovely! I did not even notice there was a little scab. In the end it is soooo beautiful :)))
I like it already, a cool little accent 🥳
Good morning 😌 Thank you, very good! Just as I wanted - natural, but it brings out the eyes 😍
Good morning! Thank you, the lash line came out very well too! Thank you so much 🫠 I am very happy! Wishing you a nice day, Sandra. 🍁🍁🍁
Hey, I like it, in the end it is very good. After the second time it really is better. 😀
What permanent makeup is
With permanent makeup, pigment is implanted into the upper layer of the dermis (0.5 mm - 1.5 mm). This creates the look of everyday makeup, and the same method is now used to correct surgical scars and to cover burns, the traces of reconstructive surgery, vitiligo and so on.
Types of permanent makeup
There are several kinds of permanent makeup, each with its own qualities and advantages. An experienced artist will help you create the look you want, whether you are after something subtle and natural or bold and striking. In this section I introduce the different kinds of permanent makeup and what they do.
-
Micropigmentation
This is the word people usually mean when they talk about a permanent makeup procedure. The term itself appeared at the same time as pigments came onto the market. -
Dermopigmentation
A modern method that helps with various skin conditions, vitiligo among them. It also helps cover scars, surgical scars, stretch marks, a cleft lip, depigmentation, hyperpigmentation, alopecia and so on. Pigment is placed in the problem area and covers it in the right tone, making that area far less noticeable. -
Tattooing
This method is very close to classic tattooing, except that the pigment ink is placed in the upper layers of the dermis. The result can be bright and saturated. Facial tattooing covers contouring of the brows, the lips and the lash line. -
Microblading
This method came from Asia. The pigment is placed with a special single-use blade. It is used mainly on the brows, sometimes on the lips, and never on the eyelids. It is a very traumatic method and hard to master. Microblading draws hairs very finely and precisely. The procedure carries a high risk of scarring, because it is hard to feel how deep the cut goes.
What the procedure gives you
-
Time savedYou no longer spend time putting makeup on every day.
-
Asymmetry correctedPermanent makeup can even out lips or brows that are not symmetrical.
-
A lasting effectThe effect holds for several years after the procedure.
-
Money savedYou no longer spend money on cosmetics.
Contraindications
In some cases the permanent makeup procedure should not be done at all. Any of the conditions listed below means the procedure cannot be carried out. In individual cases, after consulting the artist and obtaining written permission from a doctor, it may still be possible.
- Hepatitis
- Diabetes
- A tendency to form keloid scars
- Psoriasis
- Skin conditions – dermatitis, herpes, eczema, rosacea, folliculitis, furunculosis, angioedema and others
- HIV and AIDS
- Epilepsy
- Heart conditions
- Hypertension (high blood pressure)
- Autoimmune diseases
- Haemophilia (a blood clotting disorder)
- Serious internal organ diseases
- Being under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- Alcohol and blood-thinning medication – the area weeps more, which strongly affects the result
- Severe mental disorders
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding – the outcome cannot be predicted. After the first trimester the risk drops. Every mother has to weigh up for herself whether she needs the procedure
- Peels, dermabrasion and other traumatic cosmetic treatments. Once 40 to 60 days have passed, permanent makeup may be done with a doctor’s permission
- Botox and similar - permanent makeup must not be done before or after botulinum injections (at least 4 weeks have to pass)
- A high temperature - the procedure has to be moved until you have fully recovered. After a course of antibiotics, wait at least 2 weeks
- The menstrual cycle - pain is felt more keenly just before and during your period. The middle of the cycle is the best time
- A facelift – only in agreement with your doctor, once the tissue has fully recovered
- Sunburned or frostbitten skin
- A flare-up of allergies
- Chemotherapy and radiotherapy - the procedure is only possible during remission
- Conjunctivitis and other eye conditions
- Inflammation on the skin
- Menopause
- Eye surgery - at least one year must have passed
- Blepharoplasty - at least 6 months must have passed
Why a touch-up is needed after the procedure
A permanent makeup procedure counts as finished not after the main session but after the touch-up. The touch-up corrects any flaws left once the skin has healed and gives the result its full staying power. One touch-up is usually enough, though some people need two. That depends a great deal on the body and on individual differences, since healing varies from person to person. Aftercare affects the result as well.
Sometimes a client is happy with the result after the main session alone. The touch-up is then not compulsory. It is done 4 - 8 weeks after the main session.
Permanent makeup is not forever, so it has to be refreshed from time to time. A yearly refresh is done whenever you feel it is time. That is usually after 1 - 2 years, depending on whether you want to freshen up the shape and the tone. After roughly 1.5 - 2 years, permanent makeup either fades completely or leaves a light haze.
What to look for when choosing an artist
There are quite a few artists doing permanent makeup these days, but a few guidelines will help you find the one you can trust with the procedure.
Judge the artist by the quality, style and technique of their work
It matters a great deal whether you like the artist’s work and portfolio. Pay attention to photos where the treated area has healed. Then you can be sure you are in good hands and rely completely on the artist’s professional eye.
The quality of the materials and the surroundings
It is very important to weigh up the quality of the materials and the hygiene of the room. As for materials, look at the brands the artist uses. Among artists in Latvia, some of the most popular machine brands are FK Irons and iColor. For pigments it is Perma Blend and iColor. Everything has to meet the highest standards, because these procedures are invasive. The quality of the machine gives you confidence in the result over time, while the quality of the pigments determines healing and colour stability.
Can permanent makeup be removed?
Yes, it can be, though there are several things to keep in mind. The most important are how deep the pigment sits and how many times the makeup has been layered. The deeper and the more often it was done, the harder it is to remove and the longer it takes.
- One option is to lift it out with a product called a remover. It draws the pigment up, and as the skin heals the pigment comes away with the crust. Several sessions are usually needed. This suits mild cases, or when pigment has to be taken out before new permanent makeup, or to make later laser removal easier.
- Permanent makeup can also be removed with a laser, which leaves no scars.
Frequently asked questions
-
Is the procedure painful?
Most often no. It feels more like a light scratching.
-
Is it sensible to combine all three procedures in one visit?
Of course, that can be done. But if you are very afraid before the procedure, anxious or particularly sensitive, it is better to start with one procedure.
-
How long does the swelling last after the procedure?
Swelling can appear anywhere - the eyes, the lips and the brows. If you are particularly sensitive, swelling may appear; in mild cases it passes within a couple of hours, in more severe ones within a couple of days. The artist should not carry on working if marked swelling appears. The procedure can then be finished at the touch-up.
-
How long does the result last after the procedure?
It is very individual and depends on how each person regenerates. On average the effect lasts 1.5 - 2 years, although in some cases it reaches 3-5 years. A few factors can affect how long the result holds:
- The type of colourant
- How deep the pigment is placed
- Aftercare
- The touch-up after the procedure
